It has global coverage on 406 MHz to receive distress signals within its foot-print and relays back to Indian ground station (Geolut) at Bangalore. Downlink coverage of INSAT-3A is a spot beam having coverage in India only; hence no other LUT outside India can receive 406 MHz alerts from INSAT series of satellites. |
