Director’s Message
Sub: Launch of INMCC Website (http://inmcc.istrac.org)
On the occasion of 59th Anniversary of India’s Independence, I am pleased to announce the launch of INMCC website to the national and international user community. INMCC in close coordination with International Cospas-Sarsat system has been constantly working for a great humanitarian cause of saving several precious lives in distress. INMCC has completed 16 years of its services for search and rescue community around the world. Apart from ground segment support from ISTRAC, ISRO also provides GEOSAR component of space segment (currently INSTA-3A in operation) for the Cospas-Sarsat system, which covers one third of the globe, mainly Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. India is also actively involved in future developments of the system like upcoming MEOSAR system.
The team at INMCC is working dedicatedly in improving the services using the state of the art technology and services. Based on last 16 years of experience in the system development and operations, the website contents are designed to best suit user requirements. The beacon registration has become a mandatory requirement as per national (DGCA, DG Shipping) and international (ICAO, IMO) regulations, and hence need to be always maintained current. To avoid delays in beacon registration and updates due to manual process and make the data available to SAR authorities in an organized format when needed, the online beacon registration system has been developed through which user will be able to register the beacons online, and update the information whenever there is a change without directly depending on INMCC. The new system is designed in such a way that it has compatibility with International Beacon registration Database (IBRD), which will enable us to easily upload the data on IBRD for global access.
I am sure all of you will be benefited through this website and will make best use of it to get state of the art space based SAR alerting services. I extend my thanks all to you who have actively interacted with INMCC and provided best support and valuable inputs during the development of this website and online beacon registration module. My special thanks to Cospas-Sarsat Secretariat and Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for providing us very useful suggestions and helping us while testing. I appreciate the INMCC team for taking initiative and completing the task, ISTRAC network services for hosting the website and PROVAB, Bangalore for developing the web and database module.
We are open to suggestions from the users to improve this further to best suit your requirements.
